Sadly Kaeo Mainly Music has gone into recess

If you are interested in seeing it get underway again please get in touch.  Phone 09 4078250 and leave a message under the Kaeo bookings option.

Kaeo MAINLY MUSIC meets at 10am on Mondays, during School Terms in the Union Church Hall - Wesleydale Memorial Church.   Each week, care-givers bring their children for a 30 minute session of music, rhyme, movement, listening, and more.  As well, adults and children are given morning tea.

This is a community programme hosted by Seventh Day Adventist and Kaeo Union churches.

The kaupapa of mainly music is that it is a fun music group for parents or primary care-givers to enjoy together with their young children.  It offers four levels of connection:

  • Children connect with music, developing their motor skills, numeracy and literacy skills as well as their imagination, all while having fun.
  • Children and parents connect one-to-one while interacting with the music.
  • Care-givers connect with other care-givers and with the team of volunteers, during morning tea.  Children connect with other children during the play time.  It is a chance to share common interests, encourage someone having a hard time, share child-raising issues, and just enjoy being together.
  • Families connect with the local church sponsoring the mainly music session.  This offers the support of a 'friendship community' as well as opportunities for spiritual growth.

The Kaeo kaupapa is a bit different from most, being a partnership between two small churches with a common purpose - the well-being of our local community.

The volunteer team are committed to valuing and respecting all who attend.

The mainly music organisation give ongoing support with ideas, resources, and structure.  The local churches involved 'own and operat' it, through their own accountability structures and finances, and by providing venue and willing volunteers.
